Caroline Langley 梁麗蓮 is a dual qualified scientist and lawyer: a barrister, mediator, author and attorney at law with more than thirty years at the Bar across four jurisdictions. Her practice centres on multijurisdictional matters and legal technology.
She is the founder of Just Law Education (Hong Kong, 2024), where she develops AI legal technology tools, and the founder of 翰途 Briefcase, the AI platform for Court facing family law documents. She is also the author of a forthcoming Hong Kong University Press procedural guide to the Hong Kong Family Court (2027).
Before qualifying in law, she obtained a BSc (Honours) in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry from the University of Lancaster and worked as a research scientist from 1984 to 1987, in biosensor development, bone marrow transplantation, and pharmaceutical research (Syncor Corporation, The Royal Free Hospital, and Bayer Pharmaceuticals). That scientific grounding continues to inform her handling of expert evidence, causation, and contested technical issues.
She was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln's Inn) in 1989, to the Bar of Hong Kong in 1997, and to the Bar of the Republic of Ireland in 2017. She was admitted to the Bar of Colorado in 2003 and to the United States District Court, Tenth Circuit, in 2006.
She has lectured part time in law at the University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, and HKU SPACE, and has delivered CPD accredited seminars at the Law Society of Hong Kong. She has been a certified trainer with the United States National Institute for Trial Advocacy since 2005.
On the government side, Caroline served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado and has worked with the United States Department of State and the European Court of Justice. She has delivered talks and training to the United States Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, the United States Air Force, and the European Parliament in Brussels. Her work with NGOs and professional bodies includes Alienated Children First (Ireland) and Good Egg Safety (United Kingdom).
She served on the United States Department of State International Child Abduction Attorney Network (ICAAN) from 2005, chaired the American Bar Association Hong Kong City Chapter in 2014, and was a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (2010 to 2017). She is listed in Doyle's Guide to Leading Family Law Barristers in Hong Kong (2016).
