Caroline Langley 梁麗蓮

Caroline Langley is a dual qualified scientist and barrister, with more than thirty years of practice across four jurisdictions. She has been a certified trainer with the United States National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) since 2003. She is the founder of Just Law Education, which provides SEO, AEO and GEO for law firms and organisations. Caroline built 翰途 Briefcase, a Hong Kong Family Court document platform, and is the author of Hong Kong Family Law Procedure, forthcoming from HKU Press in 2027.

Before qualifying in law, she obtained a BSc (Honours) in Biological Sciences and Biochemistry from the University of Lancaster and worked as a research scientist from 1984 to 1987, in biosensor development, bone marrow transplantation, and pharmaceutical research (Syncor Corporation, The Royal Free Hospital, and Bayer Pharmaceuticals). That scientific grounding continues to inform her handling of expert evidence, causation, and contested technical issues.

She was called to the Bar of England and Wales (Lincoln's Inn) in 1989, to the Bar of Hong Kong in 1997, and to the Bar of the Republic of Ireland in 2017. She was admitted to the Bar of Colorado in 2003 and to the United States District Court, Tenth Circuit, in 2006.

She has been an HKMAAL accredited mediator since 2001, listed on the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association register. She is also on the list of mediators held by the Judiciary's Integrated Mediation Office, which refers litigants in court to mediation. The US Consulate General Hong Kong & Macau lists her as a family law provider.

She has lectured part time in law at the University of Hong Kong, the City University of Hong Kong, and HKU SPACE, and has delivered CPD accredited seminars at the Law Society of Hong Kong. She has been a certified trainer with the United States National Institute for Trial Advocacy since 2003.

On the government side, Caroline served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Colorado and has worked with the United States Department of State and the European Court of Justice. She has delivered talks and training to the United States Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps, the United States Air Force, and the European Parliament in Brussels. Her work with NGOs and professional bodies includes Alienated Children First (Ireland) and Good Egg Safety (United Kingdom).

She served on the United States Department of State International Child Abduction Attorney Network (ICAAN) from 2005, chaired the American Bar Association Hong Kong City Chapter in 2014, and was a Fellow of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (2010 to 2017). She is listed in Doyle's Guide to Leading Family Law Barristers in Hong Kong (2016).
